The live stream of Great Fire 350 on VisitLondon.com has just finished leaving me gobsmacked at what the organisers did to celebrate The Great Fire Of London 1666.
350 years ago this evening, people lost their homes and businesses in a fire which swept across London, a devastating turn of events for anyone to comprehend. In addition to this, many people died which is tragic.
The 'wonderful' people at Visit London decided to commemorate this historic event by setting models of buildings on fire like they would have been in 1666. - What a slap on the face to all the people who lost everything that night.
Thankfully, no-one from 1666 are around today to witness that shameful celebration taking place.
Hypothetically speaking, say the fire was last year. What Visit London has done is go "hey, remember when your house was on fire and you lost your relative last year? - Well, here's a model of your home on fire just to remind you of the horrific event".
Could they have been any less tactless?
As for Lauren Laverne - why she was drafted in to host the event is beyond me, I wasn't aware she was still getting work, never mind present an atrocious show such as Great Fire 350.
